World famous explorer Fedor Konyukhov flies with ActionFlight in Ras Al Khaimah

Today it was ActionFlight’s pleasure to share a hot air balloon experience with one of the most intrepid adventurers of modern times, adventurer and balloonist, artist and priest, Fedor Konyukhov and his son Oscar. Discussions are in progress with ActionFlight for a collaboration to set a new worlds first hot air ballooning record from the UAE.

Fedor is currently preparing for a mission to become the first person to sail a solar-powered catamaran across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Amongst the main goals of this next adventure are to test the new solar technology his catamaran is equipped with under marine conditions, and to test the ecology of the oceans with special debris collecting equipment measuring micoplastics.

There are not many figures in history who can claim as many extreme adventures as Fedor. He is the only person to have reached such extreme points on Earth as the North Pole, not only once but three times, the South Pole and the Pole of Inaccessibility in the Arctic Ocean.

Amongst his feats he has climbed to the top of Mount Everest two times. Fedor is the first Russian mountaineer to complete the Seven Summits challenge for which a person must climb the highest mountains of each of the seven major continents, also he is the first Russian traveller and third person in the world, who completed The Explorers Grand Slam.

Fedor’s nautical adventures include sailing around the world via Cape Horn four times, and participated in the French solo non-stop round the world yacht race “Vendée Globe” 2000-2001.

Amongst Fedor’s world records, crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a row-boat URALAZ in 46 days, and the best 24-hour distance in the same boat (110 miles).

Fedor is an international multi award winner for his various accomplishments including the FAI Breitling ‘Pilot of the year award” in 2016. The round-the-world balloonist was awarded in recognition of his historic flight, which saw him become only the third balloon team to successfully fly around the world in one flight. In the process he set a new FAI world record, completing the mission in record time.

This weeks adventure with ActionFlight was the first balloon flight since Fedor’s epic hot air balloon journey in 2016.

As an Artist, Fedor Konyukhov has created and exhibited a vast number of paintings, as a member of the Russian arts academy was a gold medal winner.

Fedor’s achievements have made him a celebrated figure in the world of hot air ballooning and adventure sports. He has inspired many people, including those lucky enough to have shared the skies with him this morning, to pursue their own dreams and push the boundaries of human achievement.
